Dental bonding is a restorative process in which we use tooth-colored resin to correct an issue with a tooth and then cure it with ultraviolet light. Bonding is faster and cheaper than many other cosmetic options, and can thus be a great option for making small aesthetic improvements to your smile.
Unlike veneers or crowns, bonding requires not appliances to be made by a lab and also requires less removal of the tooth to be successful. However, since bonding doesn't always last as long as other forms of treatment, and is not stain-resistant, it is often used more for small touchups instead of major restorations.
How it's done:
The dental bonding process can typically take between 30 and 60 minutes per tooth to complete. First, your Waxahachie cosmetic dentist will determine what shade of resin to use so that it naturally blends with your teeth. The surface of the teeth will then be roughened and a liquid conditioner will be applied so that the bonding material will adhere more easily. Following this, the resin will be applied to the tooth and then cured with an ultraviolet light. Finally, the resin will be shaped and polished so that it makes for a good fit.
