A dental bridge is a false tooth used to fill a gap created by missing or lost teeth. Gaps between the teeth may not only be unsightly but also can pose a danger to your oral health. They can cause the other teeth in your mouth to shift, your bite to change and other potentially painful side-effects. Dental bridges utilize the two surrounding teeth as anchors to hold the false tooth in place. Porcelain crowns are usually used on these surrounding teeth, with the false tooth being fused in between them, filling in the gap.
How it's done:
A minimum of two visits to our Waxahachie office is required to successfully place your dental bridge. At the first visit, we will take some initial preparation steps. This includes filing down the surrounding anchor teeth so that the crowns may fit over them, taking impressions of the teeth and installing a temporary bridge to protect the teeth while the final bridge is being prepared by the dental laboratory.
At your second visit, the temporary bridge will be removed and the permanent bridge, fresh from the lab, fill be fitted and adjusted. Multiple visits back may be needed to check and get the fit just right.
